Dr. Kidd wins AIA "Best Flyer" Award

Dr. Benton Kidd, Associate Curator of Ancient Art at the Museum of Art and Archaeology, received the 2009 "Best Flyer" Award from the Archaeological Institute of America for his flyer advertising an AIA talk in October, 2008, by Alison Futrell of the University of Arizona. Her talk, "Blood and Power: Arena Spectacle and the Roman Empire" was co-sponsored by the Museum of Art and Archaeology. Kidd serves as President of the Central Missouri Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America, which meets in Room 106 of the Museum building.

Film Premier: Women of Vision at MU's Museum of Art film posterand Archaeology

Produced as a collaborative effort between the Museum of Art and Archaeology and the US Department of Agriculture, US Forest Service, Women of Vision focuses on the role of female artists throughout history. The film is narrated by Museum Curator of European and American Art, Mary Pixley.

Museum receives original Andy Warhol photographs

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has selected the Museum of Art and Archaeology to receive more than 150 original photographs by the iconic pop artist. Two other museums in Missouri, both in St. Louis, also received gifts of art from the Foundation. more (opens new window)


A Centennial Celebration: Missouri exhibtion illustrationthrough Lens and Palette

The Museum of Art and Archaeology opens a new exhibition to commemorate the centennial of MU’s School of Journalism. Entitled Missouri through Lens and Palette, this exhibition will run from September 5 through December 24, 2008, and is a collaborative effort between the Museum of Art and Archaeology and the Missouri Photo Workshop.
