Elizabeth I: Ruler and Legend is a traveling panel exhibition assembled by the Newberry Library and the American Library Association. It explores historical, cultural and aesthetic aspects of the reign of England’s Queen Elizabeth I. In conjunction with this exhibit, the Museum of Art and Archaeology has collaborated with MU’s Special Collections, Ellis Library, to produce a small exhibition of objects from their respective collections related to Elizabethan culture (also on display in the library). Several sixteenth-century objects and artworks are included in this exhibition, together with later works that focus on Shakespearean themes.
