September 26, Saturday 1-3pm National Museum Day in conjunction with the Smithsonian Lots of activities for all ages!

November 14, Saturday 1-3 Family Event: Hold Everything! View the vessels in the Museum’s galleries. How were these vessels formed and in what different ways could the shapes have been used? Limit two children per accompanying adult. Preregistration required 882-3591
February 13, Saturday 1-3 Family Event: Experimenting with Color Explore the spectrum of colors in the Museum’s galleries, then experiment with some techniques to create your own colorful works of art. Limit two children per accompanying adult. Preregistration required 882-3591
March 18-20, Friday through Sunday Art in Bloom Mid-Missouri florists design and create fresh-cut floral arrangements inspired by art works in the Museum’s collections.
March 19, Saturday Art in Bloom for Kids Children’s Workshop SESSIONS BETWEEN 1:00–3:30pm Participants will create their own arrangements with real flowers. (Preregistration BEFORE MARCH 15, 882-3591) Drop-ins on a space available basis. Limit two children per accompanying adult.
April 9, Saturday 1-3 Family Event: Artists’ Visions We’ll look at examples of works by artists in special exhibitions in the Museum and then make our own art, inspired by these. Limit two children per accompanying adult. Preregistration required 882-3591
May 14, Saturday 1-3 Family Event: Landscapes After viewing landscapes in the Museum, we will try our hand at our own landscapes, using a variety of media. Limit two children per accompanying adult Preregistration required 882-3591

Thursday, June 16: Kids Series: World of Art Art Rocks!
We’ll look at examples of works of art that incorporate stone, then decorate our own rocks.
June 20-24: Kids Dig Art! Summer Camp at the Museum of Art and Archaeology 9-1pm Monday-Friday Meet in the Cast Gallery each day
Thursday, July 7 Kids Series: World of Art Pyramid Power
Learn about Egyptian burial practices from the artifacts on view in the Museum. Then create an Egyptian artifact to take home
Thursday, July 14: Kids Series: World of Art Books, Tablets, Manuscripts, and Scrolls
Words can be found in many different places. We will view some of those in the Museum and then make our own altered book.
Thursday, July 21 Kids Series: World of Art Stories in Quilts
We will learn about the artist Faith Ringgold, who creates vibrant, exciting art influenced by quilts and African-American history and literature. Afterwards, create your own fabric work of art or make a paper quilt.
Thursday, July 28 Kids Series: World of Art Masks in the Museum
Explore the world of masks in the Museum, from different cultures and times. Learn about the function of masks in general and why people all over the globe use them. Then decorate your own mask.
Thursday, August 4 Kids Series: World of Art Picasso
The artist Pablo Picasso was influenced by many different kinds of art, as well as how he inspired other artists. Then create a Picasso-style work of art of your own.
