Orpheus (1950)
Directed by Jean Cocteau
Starring: Marie Déa and Jean Marais

Cocteau’s lyrical and haunting film places the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in contemporary France. The poet Orpheus receives his inspiration from a car radio, while Death is accompanied by attendants on motorcycles. The visual effects compliment the poetic imagery.
