The MA&A’s holdings of American Art encompass 2,400 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and works of decorative art produced by artists born or residing in the United States. Regional artists and themes represent an area of strength, with examples by Thomas Hart Benton and Geroge Caleb Bingham. The collection also includes examples of 19th century landscape and portraiture, as well as Postwar Art movements such as Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.
