CAP helps museums improve the care of their collections by providing support for a general conservation assessment of the museum’s collections and buildings. The museum will work with a team of preservation professionals to identify preventive conservation priorities. The final assessment report will help the museum prioritize its collections care efforts in the coming years.

"Having recently moved our over 16,000 works of art and antiquity into a new location, this is a perfect time to focus on preserving those objects for the benefit of Mizzou students and faculty and for the citizens of Columbia and central Missouri," expressed Dan Eck, director of the Museum of Art and Archaeology. "Our collection is both an educational resource and a source of pride for the community, and the diversity and quality of the objects provide countless learning opportunities for students and researchers. It is our duty to ensure they are properly cared for and available to future generations."

The CAP program is administered by the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation through a cooperative agreement with the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
