This exhibition catalogue collects 101 artifacts of the Geometric period in Greece, 1000–700 B.C. Drawn from American museums and collections, the artifacts, some published here for the first time, illustrate the art and culture of a crucial period of Greek history. An introduction summarizes the nature of the Geometric world. Five briefer essays synthesize the individual cataloged works and relate them to their larger cultural context.
