Museum Educator

Julie Chatman M.Ed., Museum Educator – Julie is an experienced art teacher incorporating art history into all her teaching curriculum and joined the museum in October of 2023. Recently she taught elementary art and creativity courses at Columbia Public School’s Center for Gifted Education (EEE) from June 2011 - June 2023. Previously Julie was a Visual Design Instructor at the University of Missouri’s College of Human Environmental Sciences - Department of Interior Design and Architectural Studies from August 2008 – 2013. She also taught art classes at Columbia Public School’s West Junior High School and Jefferson Junior High School. Julie worked as a Computer Graphic Artist for the University of Missouri Human Environmental Sciences Extension office from, March 2004 - August 2011 where she developed graphic design work, advertising, promotional materials, etc. for MU Human Environmental Sciences (HES) Extension where she designed, produced and coordinated printed projects to promote various research-based programs throughout the state of Missouri. Previously Julie was Art Director and Publications Manager at Stephens College - Office of Marketing and Communications from 1993 – 2004. Julie graduated from the University of Missouri with an M.Ed. in Art Education; Lindenwood University with an M.Ed. in Gifted Education; Central Missouri State University with a B.S. in Graphic Arts Technology-Management and from Crowder College an AA in Fine Arts.
