Mizzou’s Museum of Art and Archaeology has earned reaccreditation from the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition awarded to museums in the United States. Fewer than 3.5% of the nation’s more than 33,000 museums hold this distinction, placing the museum among an elite group committed to excellence.
The Museum of Art and Archaeology is one of only a select number of museums in Missouri to achieve this recognition, reflecting its leadership in stewardship, education, and public engagement.
“This reaccreditation reflects the dedication of our staff and the strong support of our community, including our devoted Museum Associates,” said Marie Nau Hunter, interim director of the Museum of Art and Archaeology. “We are proud to continue advancing our mission to make art and history accessible to all.”
The Museum of Art and Archaeology underwent a rigorous, nearly two-year evaluation process that included an in-depth self-study and peer review. Reaccreditation affirms that it meets the highest standards in ethical practice, collections care, and public service.
The community is invited to explore the Museum of Art and Archaeology’s dynamic displays and participate in programs and events offered throughout the year.
